Ryan Schleppenbach joined the City of Killdeer in 2025 as the Parks and Recreation Director, bringing more than 16 years of experience with the Dunn County Road Department. During his time with the county, Ryan developed a strong foundation in infrastructure management, community service, and leadership — skills that now support his work enhancing the city’s parks, recreation programs, and community spaces. Ryan attended Mayville State University after high school before continuing his education at Inver Hills Community College, where he earned his Associate of Arts degree. He later graduated from Metropolitan State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services and Corrections, strengthening his understanding of people, teamwork, and community development. Over the years, Ryan has been deeply involved in civic leadership throughout Dunn County, serving as a City Commissioner for Killdeer, and as a member of the Planning and Zoning Board and JDA Board in Halliday, as well as the Dunn County Housing Authority Board. He has also dedicated many years to coaching basketball at every level in Killdeer and enjoys substitute teaching within the Killdeer School District. Outside of work, Ryan has been married to his wife Shila for 21 years. They have three wonderful children — Owen, a freshman in college, Ivy, a senior, and Coy, a sophomore at Killdeer High School. Ryan values family, teamwork, and community, and is committed to continuing to make Killdeer a great place to live, play, and grow.
